#100334018
Looking up inside the tower at Cliff Palace, which was first discovered in 1888 by Richard Wetherill and Charlie Mason. It is the largest cliff dwelling in North America, built by the Ancestral Puebloan from 1190 - 1260 CE and is roughly 215 wide x 90ft deep x 60ft high. It was abandoned by 1300 most likely because of drought. It contains 150 rooms and 23 kivas and supported a population of about 100 people. This 26 ft tower, restored by the Park Service, contains 4 levels and is the second tallest structure in the park (Square Tower is one foot taller)
